Recommended Battery settings for Primare's Android Apps

With some Android mobile device settings in place, Primare APP, AIR, and Prisma playback may stop or become inconsistent.

This may be because the Primare app needs to run in background to be able to play the next upcoming song. If this is not allowed due to settings in the mobile device (or the mobile device disconnects from WIFI, or the app is closed or killed,) the streaming device will not know what song to play next.

So, it is essential for consistent playback to select Background App Refresh in the mobile device’s general settings and/or in the Primare application settings.

Because there are a variety of Android versions that may be used, it may take some exploration of the settings options in the device being used with two examples below:

  • Settings > Apps & Notifications > All Apps > Select Primare app > Mobile Data & WiFi > Background Data > Off
  • Settings > Device Care > Battery Options > App Power Management > Advanced Settings > Put Apps To Sleep > Off

This background activity does drain battery from the mobile device and therefore may conflict with optimised battery settings.

As a result, it is advised to switch off general energy savings settings that may be in place, and in particular select the No Restrictions setting rather than Optimised.

Again, because of different manufacturers and android OS versions, the settings can vary with two examples below for Primare APP/AIR and Prisma:

  • Settings > Apps > Primare / Primare AIR > Battery > Optimise battery usage > Not optimised
  • Settings > Apps > Primare Prisma > Battery > Unrestricted
